When making custom rash guards and no-gi shorts, many customers first focus on the design.
Where should the logo go?
How should the colours match?
Will the artwork look clear?
These are all important.
But before production starts, one question often comes up:
Are the logos just stuck on? Will they peel, crack, or come off after a few washes?
This is a very normal concern. On many regular sportswear products, logos are heat-pressed or applied onto the surface. They may look fine at first, but after repeated wear and washing, the edges can start to lift, and the print may slowly come off.
Rash guards and no-gi shorts are usually made with sublimation printing.
Simply put, the artwork is not stuck on top of the fabric. It is printed into the fabric during production.
So it will not peel at the edges like a normal heat-pressed logo after a few washes.
This is also why design files and print placement are very important before producing custom rash guards and no-gi shorts.
Clear Design Files Matter
Sublimation printing transfers the artwork directly into the fabric, so the quality of the original file matters.
Logos, text, and artwork are best provided as vector files such as AI, PDF, or EPS.
If the file is only a low-resolution PNG, screenshot, or small image, the edges may become blurry when enlarged, and the final print quality can be affected.
This is especially important for brand logos, sponsor logos, small text, and detailed artwork. The clearer the file, the more stable the final result will be.
Colours Should Be Confirmed First
Colours on a computer screen may not look exactly the same once printed onto fabric.
Different fabrics, base colours, and production batches can all create slight colour differences.
So if colour accuracy is important, such as brand colours, team colours, or sponsor logos, it is better to confirm this during the sample stage.
A sample is not an unnecessary step. It helps you see the real colour and overall look before moving into bulk production.
Rash Guards Stretch When Worn
Rash guards are made from stretch fabric, so the garment will stretch when worn.
When designing the artwork, it is important not to judge the design only from the flat layout.
Some artwork may look good when laid flat, but after stretching on the body, it may become distorted or the text may become less clear.
Areas such as the chest, shoulders, sleeves, and side panels all need to be considered carefully.
If a logo is too close to the edge, or if the lines are too thin, the final look may not be as stable as the design file.
No-Gi Shorts Have Their Own Structure
No-gi shorts are different from rash guards.
Shorts include areas such as the waistband, leg panels, side panels, crotch, side slits, Velcro, and drawstrings.
Logos and artwork should not be placed randomly. It is better to avoid seams, folding areas, and high-friction zones.
Some designs work better on the outside leg panel.
Some work better as a small front logo.
Some are better suited for full sublimation artwork.
These details need to be considered together with the shorts pattern and production structure.
Simple Logos and Full Sublimation Are Not the Same
Some customers only need logos on the chest, sleeves, or shorts leg.
Others want full sublimation, where the entire rash guard or shorts is covered with artwork.
These are two different types of custom production.
Simple logo placement works well for clean academy uniforms.
Full sublimation is better for brand collections, competition gear, special design releases, or products that need a stronger visual impact.
Different design types can affect sampling, production files, artwork layout, and final pricing.
Sample Approval Is Important
Before bulk production, we usually recommend making a sample first.
A sample helps confirm:
Fabric feel
Colour result
Logo placement
Artwork size
Fit
Overall design effect
Once the sample is approved, bulk production can move forward with more confidence.
